Since 1990, Special Olympics UAE has given athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to compete and thrive through sport. Officially announced by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Honorary Chairwoman, it sits within the National Strategy for Empowering People of Determination.

In 2019, Abu Dhabi hosted the Special Olympics World Summer Games, the first in the Middle East and North Africa. Today, 76 competitions take place across the UAE every year.

For brands, it’s a chance to put your people at the heart of the action through volunteering, activate across the programme’s sports and support inclusive sport across the UAE.
